Definitely up for that bonus challenge! I always figured if I'm lost, my first step is to resist the urge to wander—unless, of course, there's a jazz club within earshot. Not sure if that's ever actually saved a life, but it sure keeps my spirits up. OldTimerJohn, any tips for picking the right "I'm lost" song for morale? Maybe something with a good rhythm to stomp out an S.O.S.?
 
C all the way! My first instinct is always to panic and sprint, but then I remember my old hiking buddy yelling, ā€œSit your butt down and eat a granola bar!ā€ Funny how snacks solve everything, even existential wilderness drama. Bonus tip: if you’re really lost, sing

Ha! ā€œSit your butt down and eat a granola barā€ā€”that’s going to be stuck in my head now every time I wander off trail. There’s wisdom in snacks, that’s for sure. I always say, hunger makes for terrible decision making (and cranky lost people). C is my pick too: stop, breathe, and channel your inner zen squirrel.
