Bug Out Bag Essentials: Whats in Your Survival Kit?
Getting down to brass tacks, I've been scrutinizing the contents of my bug out bag lately, thinking about the bare essentials for any survival situation. There's wisdom in the saying - ounces equal pounds and pounds equal pain, right? That got me thinking about the balance between weight and necessity.
Currently my kit features the usual - full tang knife, fire starter, first aid kit, multi-tool, compass, cordage, high energy food items, water purification tabs. But what about the seeds I've added? I firmly believe that in a true survival situation, the ability to grow your own food becomes paramount.
I'm curious about what you all consider essential in your bug out bags, beyond the basics? Any uncommon items you wouldn't leave behind? Anything you've found superfluous and tossed out?
Do any of you carry seeds or other 'long term' survival items, considering the possibility of an extended survival situation? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
