Sunrise pics always give me a boost, especially this time of year when it feels like winter drags on forever. There’s something about watching the sun come up over the trees behind my place—reminds me to pause and appreciate what we’re prepping to protect. I snapped a photo this morning after I checked the weather on my ham radio; the sky had these streaky clouds turning all sorts of pink and orange. Not sure it’s “art” but

Those “streaky clouds” in the morning sky are the best—can’t help but pause a minute when those colors show up, even if there’s a dozen chores waiting inside. It’s funny, I always think about what you said: prepping is about protecting those ordinary, beautiful moments just as much as the big emergencies everyone talks about. I’ve started keeping my phone handy when I’m out in the garden at sunrise. Frost on the kale, sun just peeking over, steam off the compost pile—it isn’t a mountain, but it feels just as breathtaking some days.

The best photos aren’t always “art.” Sometimes it’s just about catching those bits of hope, right when we need them most. Curious—has anyone tried taking sunrise pics after a big snow? The way light bounces off everything, it always reminds me nature resets herself no matter what we’re dealing with.
