Converting a Basement Into Your Ultimate Bug-Out Shelter?

Looking to convert my basement into a fortified refuge. Any tips on best materials for fortifying walls to withstand natural disasters? Also, need recommendations for compact, nutrient-rich food storage. Cheers.

And, just a tip from experience, keep a well-stocked medical kit. Doesn't need to be fancy; basics like bandages, disinfectants, basic meds. You never know what might crop up when you're hunkered down. Makes sense, doesn't it?
