Now, one former student is sharing his story publicly for the first time. Paul Busch was a teenager when his ballet teacher took advantage of him. Today, as an adult, he is finally speaking out about the trauma that shaped his life, hoping to bring attention to the systemic failures that left young artists unprotected on campus.
The Illusion of a Safe Haven
The school, famous for helping launch the careers of major singers and actors, always maintained an image of a perfect creative community. However, a recent independent investigation painted a completely different picture. The inquiry uncovered a long history of harm stretching over several decades. In total, the investigation detailed about 70 allegations of sexual abuse involving nearly 50 adults who worked at or were connected to the school.
The findings showed that the school environment made it easy for abusers to target children. Several factors contributed to this dangerous environment:

The problems at the school even involved high-profile figures. A wealthy financier who was later convicted of sex crimes, along with his female accomplice, used the campus to meet and recruit young teenagers. But the issues went far beyond just one famous predator, reaching deep into the faculty itself.
The Day the Trust Was Broken
When Busch first arrived at the school on a partial scholarship, he felt incredibly lucky. His ballet instructor, Thomas Clower, was a respected and award-winning teacher who quickly took Busch under his wing. Clower asked to mentor the teenager, but the relationship soon became uncomfortable. Clower began sending emails with highly personal and inappropriate questions about the boy's private life.
