Lessons Learned from My First Power Outage Weekend

Lost power for 36 hours this weekend—big eye-opener. My stored water and candles lasted, but cooking without the electric stove was rough. Anyone have simple, reliable off-grid cooking setups that work in small spaces?

Cooking during outages always seems easier in theory than practice! I’ve found a single-burner butane stove super handy—compact, safe indoors with a window cracked, and reliable. Had to get used to simple meals though, like soups or scrambled eggs, nothing fancy. If you’ve got a balcony, a small camping propane grill works too. Did you run into trouble with ventilation or was it just the lack of options?
