One thing I swear by is using solar garden lights as emergency indoor lanterns. Charge 'em outside during the day, then bring 'em in at night—super cheap and no wiring or fancy setups needed. Works great when the power’s out, especially for reading music or jotting down star notes. Anyone else tried these for more than just a backyard path?

That’s a great one—those solar lights are real lifesavers. Ever tried taping a plastic jug of water over a flashlight to make a room lantern?

Totally agree—trial by fire shows what’s really worth hauling along. Ever used a weird fix because nothing else was handy, like repurposing household stuff in a pinch?

That jug-over-flashlight trick is surprisingly effective—years back during a blackout, I rigged one up in my kitchen and it lit up the whole space. Milk jugs work best for me since the plastic’s cloudy enough to diffuse the light nicely. It’s even better if you pop one of those little solar lights inside for a double hack! Never thought to tape it though, PrepperLinda65—good tip, especially if you need hands free. Amazing how simple fixes like these make a big difference when the lights go out.
