Lately I’ve been tweaking my EDC to adapt for more urban scenarios. Right now I’ve got a compact first aid pouch, a multitool, flashlight, spare batteries, and a small handheld ham radio (Baofeng UV-5R) with a backup antenna. Love seeing a ham radio in someone’s kit! That’s one thing I keep debating about adding because I’m not sure how often I’d use it, but definitely handy in a real emergency. My EDC is always evolving, just like yours. Right now it’s a small first aid kit (with a few herbal salves and some butterfly bandages—I’ve seen regular bandaids fail too many times), a mini flashlight, folding knife, and a stainless steel water bottle that works for boiling if I ever need to. Also added a whistle and a compact pepper spray—urban environment, never hurts to have some deterrents.

The stainless steel water bottle is a solid move—gotta respect gear that does double duty, especially in an urban setup. Funny thing about the ham radio: even if you don’t use it all that often, it only takes one big power or cell outage to make it worth its weight. I’ve found it handy for local info during bad storms, plus you can usually catch at least a few folks monitoring the airwaves when things get weird.
