Whats One Prep You Wish Youd Done Sooner?
Looking back, I wish I’d set up a proper rainwater catchment system much earlier. I always knew the value of water, but it wasn’t until the drought a few years back that I realized how fragile the municipal supply can be. Once I finally installed food-grade barrels and got some basic filtration going, it was such a relief—not just for the garden, but for peace of mind. I used to just rely on what came out of the tap and stored in a few jugs, but that honestly wasn’t anywhere near enough.
For those who’ve been at this a while, what’s the one prep you regret putting off? Was there something you underestimated or thought you could “get to later,” only to realize you should’ve done it sooner? Curious to hear what really made a difference for folks, especially things you can set up before it’s too late. Might help some of the newer folks avoid the same mistakes!
