What’s the Most Overlooked Prep in Your Kit?

Everyone talks about food and water, but how many of us actually pack extra prescription glasses or backup meds? Curious what other essentials folks tend to forget—what’s your most commonly overlooked prep item?

Extra glasses are a must in my kit, too—my eyesight's not what it used to be, and I’d hate to be fumbling around in an emergency. Backup meds are another big one, especially anything you can’t just stop cold turkey. Something I rarely see mentioned is a small bottle of high-grade herbal tinctures—like echinacea or yarrow—for first aid or immune support. I’ve helped calm down a stubborn cough with wild cherry bark syrup I keep on hand. Another overlooked item: a good pair of tweezers. Out in the garden or on the move, I’ve dealt with more splinters than I care to count, and having decent tweezers saves a lot of pain

Hard to believe how often folks forget about basic comfort, like a bar of real soap or a washcloth. Clean skin matters more than you’d think if things go sideways—cuts heal faster, and morale stays up. I also keep a stash of dried plantain leaves; works wonders on stings and scrapes when I’m out and about. Anyone else keep a mini herb kit, or just me?
