What’s the Most Overlooked Prep in Your Opinion?

Most people seem to focus on food, water, and defense—which are obviously crucial—but I rarely see enough talk about sanitation and waste management. In a long-term grid-down scenario, the ability to safely handle waste (both human and otherwise) could be what stands between you and serious illness. Too many folks underestimate just how fast things can go sideways when the toilet stops working.

Composting toilets, lime, sawdust, or even just a reliable plan for digging and managing latrines are overlooked way too often, in my opinion. Not to mention hygiene supplies like soap, feminine products, or even just enough water for proper hand-washing. Improper management leads to contaminated water sources and a breeding ground for disease—not something you want during an emergency.
