What’s the Most Overlooked Prep in Your Opinion?

Everyone stocks food and water, but I rarely see much talk about sanitation supplies. In a real long-term event, lack of proper hygiene could take you out just as fast as hunger. What do you keep on hand for waste management or disinfecting if the grid goes down?

Absolutely agree—people forget how quickly illness spreads without good waste control. Do you have a favorite DIY toilet setup or do you buy commercial bags?

Sanitation really is the silent threat in these situations—you can’t underestimate the mess or the health risks. I keep lots of heavy-duty trash bags, bleach, and homemade wipes; curious what others find most practical for longer outages.

Buckets with tight lids and sawdust have worked great for me—keeps things simple and almost odorless. Ever tried digging a humanure pit for longer-term setups?
