What’s Your Go-To Item for Unexpected Emergencies?

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that emergencies never announce themselves. For me, my go-to item has to be a solid multi-tool—it’s saved me more than once, from fixing a broken greenhouse latch to quick first aid fixes. Curious what
 
Can’t go wrong with a multi-tool, but I’ve found that a sturdy flashlight (with extra batteries stashed nearby) has bailed me out time and again. Power outages, searching for stuff in the shed at night, or just signaling for help—light makes all the difference. Anyone else keep some sort of lantern or hand-crank light handy just in case?
 
Absolutely agree about lighting. I’ve learned the hard way that a good lantern or headlamp is worth its weight in gold when the power goes out—hands free makes everything else easier, too. My go-to item, though, is actually a bit old-school: a big, well-stocked first aid kit. I keep one in the hall closet and another smaller version in my car. Seems simple, but you never know when you’ll need more than just a couple of bandaids. Add in a bottle of water-purification tablets taped to the lid and it turns into a mini life-saver
