What’s Your Go-To Item for Unexpected Emergencies?
When it comes to those curveball emergencies—the ones that catch you totally off guard—what’s the single item you always keep close at hand, no matter what? I’ve rotated through a few over the years, but lately I find myself reaching for a small, robust multi-tool more than anything else. It’s got the basics: knife, pliers, mini saw, awl, and even can handle pulling thorns after an afternoon in the garden. It doesn’t replace everything, obviously, but works in more situations than I expected.
Curious to know if anyone else has something they consider absolutely essential when they don’t have time to prep or grab a full kit. Do you all go for fire starters, a flashlight, or maybe something more specialized? I know some lean heavy on portable water filters (which makes sense), but I can’t always have mine right at arm’s reach.
If you had to choose just one item that’s saved your skin more than once in an unexpected situation, what would it be? Would love to hear why and any stories behind it. Always on the lookout to learn from real experience.
