When things go sideways, I always fall back on firecraft. Knowing a dozen ways to get a flame going, wet or dry, has saved my skin more than once. Curious what skill you all rely on most—water procurement, shelter building, wild edibles, or something else? If you had to pick the one you trust your life to, which would it be and why? If I had to rely on just one skill when things go sideways, it’d have to be first aid. I know water and shelter are essential, but when people get hurt—stepping on a nail, burns from a campfire, or worse—those injuries can go bad really fast without treatment. All the wilderness savvy in the world doesn’t help if a bad infection takes you out. Of course, knowing how to find clean water runs a close second for me, since you can’t last long without it.
