Funny how we all stash away canned goods but forget the thing to open ‘em! For me, one of the most forgotten items has to be sturdy gloves. Not the flimsy garden kind, I’m talking thick leather gloves that’ll protect your hands if you need to clear debris or do any heavy lifting. I learned that lesson after a bad run-in with some tangled brambles last storm, cut myself up pretty good trying to clear a path with bare hands.
Also, a good pair of reading glasses if you need them. I keep extras tucked into various kits—can’t read instructions or labels in a pinch without ‘em.
Another thing is basic sewing supplies. A needle and thread can patch gear, clothing, or even a wound in a dire situation. Such a small thing but a real lifesaver.
Out of curiosity, has anyone ever actually had to use something from their kit that they almost forgot to pack? Would love to hear those stories, sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest difference.
