What’s Your Most Underrated Prep Item?

Everyone talks about water filters, ammo, and food buckets, but I think one of the most underappreciated preps is a high-quality pair of gardening gloves. Sounds simple, but after a disaster, if you have to move debris, cut branches, or dig for anything, your hands are your tools—and they're super easy to injure. I've seen even experienced folks lose weeks of productivity because of infected cuts or blisters that could've been avoided.

Curious to know what other “little” things folks here rely on that don't get as much attention? Is there a basic item in your kit that's saved your skin (literally or figuratively) before? Not talking about the obvious headline gear—looking for the essentials that only experience teaches you to appreciate

Totally agree—nothing ruins your day like a nasty cut, especially when you’re trying to get things done. I’d add a good nail brush too—keeping hands clean prevents a lot of grief down the line!
 
Can’t tell you how many times a simple bandana’s come in handy for me—dust mask, tourniquet, sling, hot pot holder, you name it. Folks overlook ‘em but they’re so versatile and barely take up any space. Pair that with
