What’s Your Top “Must Have” for Bug-Out Bags?

Every list has the basics, but if you had to pick just ONE item you wouldn’t leave out of your bug-out bag, what would it be? For me, water filtration is non-negotiable. Curious if others feel the same or prioritize something different.

Water filtration is right up there on my list, too—can’t do much if you don’t have safe water to drink. I’d put that neck-and-neck with a high-quality multitool, though. It’s amazing how many problems you can solve with the right tool in hand, from fixing a pack strap to opening cans or making a quick shelter. I suppose I lean toward multitool because I’ve always valued versatility, especially when you’re trying to travel light. Of course, if you’re out longer, water’s going to be the top priority.
