Whats Your Top Priority When the Grid Goes Down?

First thing I do is check water supplies and get my backup filtration set up. What’s the very first step you all take when the grid’s out—do you focus on comms, security, or something else? Curious what tops your immediate checklist.

Water tops my list every single time, too. I always fill up extra containers right away and get the rain barrels checked, just in case it ends up being a long outage. Security is a close second for me—making sure doors and windows are locked and any outside lights are ready to go with solar batteries. Does anyone here have tips for keeping food cool without power when it stretches past a day or two?

Keeping food cool is tricky—I pack my perishables in a cooler layered with frozen water bottles from the chest freezer. Ever tried burying a cooler for extra insulation?
