The scholar, who achieved this high honor at the age of 37, chose to resign after facing weeks of questions about his research, athletic feats, and charity work.

The Accusations and the Decision to Step Down

Questions About Academic Work and Charity Claims
The trouble began when a former researcher at the university raised questions about the professor's past work. Soon after, others pointed out issues in his doctoral thesis from several years ago. They claimed that several parts of his paper were nearly identical to work written by another researcher.
