First thing I do in any crisis is check comms—if you can’t get or send info, you’re in the dark. Curious what others here prioritize first—shelter, water, defensive position, or something else?

Comms are important, but for me, water always comes first unless immediate danger is staring me in the face. Without clean water, there’s only so much you can do, no matter how well you’re set up otherwise. I do keep an old radio handy, though—hard to overlook the value of intel, EchoTangoFox makes a good point there. Usually, I’ll triage: water, then shelter, then assess what needs the most attention depending on the situation. Anyone else put water above everything, or am I just old-fashioned?
