Best Ways to Store Water Long-Term?

Storing enough clean water for the long haul is always on my mind, especially with grandkids around. I've used food-grade barrels with bleach treatment, but have read mixed things about shelf-life and rotating. Is it better to use commercial water storage bricks or stick with bulk barrels? Also, do folks here prefer adding a touch of chlorine

Bulk barrels are still my go-to, since they hold so much and you can stash them in a cool, dark place to limit algae or bacteria growth. I usually add unscented bleach—about 1/8 teaspoon per gallon—then seal them tight. The commercial water bricks are handy if space is tight or you want portability, but I haven’t found them as cost-effective for lots of water. Rotating every 6-12 months gives me peace of mind, even if treated water might last longer. If you’re using barrels, a siphon pump makes it a lot easier to access and rotate.
