Best Tips for Stockpiling Food Without Breaking the Bank

Rising prices are making it tough to build up a decent food stockpile these days. I've been rotating through beans, rice, and canned veggies, but I'm wondering what overlooked items folks here consider real bargains for long-term storage. Anyone found certain bulk buys or preservation methods that really stretch a dollar? Also curious about opinions on freeze-drying at home—worth the investment or better to stick to traditional methods?

Oats and dry lentils are still pretty cheap if you buy in bulk, plus they last ages. Anyone else had luck canning produce from their own garden instead of buying so much pre-made?
