Been reviewing my own water storage setup and realized I could use some fresh insight from folks who’ve been doing this for a while. I’ve mostly relied on 55-gallon food-grade barrels with water treatment drops, rotating every six months or so. Lately I’m wondering how necessary frequent rotation really is if you’re using

If you’re using food-grade barrels, proper treatment drops, and they’re sealed well, the risk of contamination is already pretty low. I’ve gone up to a year between rotations with no issues—just checked odor and clarity, and it was fine. Sometimes I wonder if we’re over-rotating out of habit more than need. EchoTangoFox, do you store indoors or out? Temperature swings can make a big difference in how long the water stays fresh, from my experience.
