The Loss of a Beloved Individual
The 39-year-old senator succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Bogota, Colombia's capital. Following his passing, his wife, María Claudia Tarazona, took to social media to mourn his loss and promise to take care of their children.

Following the shooting at the political gathering, a young suspect was taken into custody.
