Rob has denied that version: he’s still close with his sisters, and his decision to step back had more to do with how he felt about himself.
During a conversation on Khloé’s podcast in 2025, he explained why he didn’t want to keep filming:
“There’s definitely nothing wrong between any of us. It just has everything to do with myself,” Rob said. “I don’t want to be filming and putting myself in a position where I’m not comfortable. I’m not comfortable in my skin, so why would I want to go be on camera, be vulnerable, and let people in when that’s not what I want to do?”
He said he hadn’t felt comfortable with himself for years, and that filming wasn’t for everybody. “I choose my own happiness and peace rather than just filming for somebody who doesn’t do anything for me in my personal life,” he said.

In the photos, Rob wore all black and flashed a beaming smile. The pictures got attention fast, in part because it’s so unusual to see him out and about. A family birthday dinner became a rare public glimpse of someone who has spent years choosing privacy.
Much of the online chatter focused on how happy he looked. One popular Instagram commenter wrote, “Sorry to be parasocial but I’m happy to see rob looking good,” while another said Rob was “stealing the show.”

Rob didn’t sound convinced that all this excitement was warranted. “I don’t know why they’re saying that, ’cause I felt like I looked crazy,” he said.
It’s not the standard response to a burst of compliments. Most people would at least say thanks before privately inspecting every photo. Rob went straight to disagreeing with the crowd.
Chyna wasn’t having it. “No, never,” she said. “You’re being modest. The pictures was fire.”
