What’s In Your 72-Hour Emergency Kit These Days?

Every year or so, I overhaul my 72-hour kit, and it’s always interesting to see what others are packing these days. Lately I’ve been debating swapping out canned food for freeze-dried pouches to cut down on weight. I keep my old manual can opener just in case, but not sure if it’s worth the space now. Curious what you all are prioritizing right now—are there any new must-haves I should consider? Would love to hear what’s changed in your kits lately.

I switched to freeze-dried meals myself last year—makes a huge difference for weight and bulk. Still keep a couple of high-calorie bars and instant coffee, can’t do without either. One thing I added this spring is a small bottle of elderberry syrup, just in case I catch something on the go. Curious if anyone’s got new ideas for water filtration that don’t take up a ton of space?
