Real-world use makes all the difference, doesn’t it? I’ve tried a few setups after learning the hard way (ice storms are no joke). My main go-to now is a combo: solar panels with a lithium battery bank for the basics—lighting, charging phones, even a small induction plate. It’s silent, which I love, but definitely won’t run a big freezer or central heat for long stretches. I keep a small inverter generator as a backup, mostly for the fridge when outages stretch past two days. Yes, a bit noisy, but we stagger its use and neighbors appreciate the heads-up.
