What’s Your Go-To Backup Power Source?

Curious what everyone’s using as their primary backup power these days. I’ve got a small solar setup for basics—lights, charging, small appliances—but I worry it won’t be enough in extended bad weather, especially up north. Do folks still rely on generators, or have you moved to solar/battery banks entirely? Has anyone found a quiet, sustainable option that actually holds up long-term? Looking for ideas that aren’t gasoline-dependent.

Been running a solar battery system with a hand-crank charger as backup—quiet and no fumes, but it’s tricky if the sun’s gone for days. Anyone tried wind turbines for backup?

Solar’s been my main thing for a while, but I keep a deep-cycle battery bank with a 1000W inverter just in case. Gas generators are too noisy and honestly, storing fuel safely is a hassle. I do supplement with a small foldable wind turbine—doesn’t cover everything, but it helps on those endless cloudy days. Has anyone else noticed their batteries degrading faster than expected, or is that just me?
