What’s Your Most Overlooked Prep Item?
Every time I go through my supplies, I find myself wondering what critical item I might be overlooking. Batteries? Water filters? Sure, we all stock those. But I realized recently that I’ve never seen much talk about extra prescription eyeglasses or reading glasses. If you rely on glasses, losing or breaking them in an emergency could be a real problem—not just inconvenient, but possibly dangerous.
I also started keeping a small sewing kit with heavy-duty needles and extra buttons, which has come in handy more than once, especially repairing packs and clothing. Lately, I’ve added spare shoelaces and duct tape to my “must-have” list since they’re useful for more than just shoes—think tourniquets, tying, patching leaks, etc.
Curious what others here consider their most overlooked prep item? Is there something you always pack or stash that nobody else seems to mention? Would love to hear about the small, essential things you wouldn’t want to do without if you had to bug in or bug out suddenly. Maybe we’ll all pick up a trick or two before the next surprise
