What’s Your Most Overlooked Prep Item?

Most folks stash food, water, and ammo, but I rarely see anyone talk about basic musical instruments or any way to keep spirits up. I keep a harmonica and a deck of cards in my bug-out bag—small, lightweight, and a real morale boost during rough times. What’s one thing you think is essential but gets overlooked in most kits? Curious to hear what’s in your bags that isn’t “standard issue.”
 
Love seeing the harmonica mentioned! For me, it’s a small sewing kit—thread, needles, a couple buttons. Folks forget how vital it can be to patch gear, repair clothes, or even improvise in first aid. It weighs almost nothing but can make a world of difference if you’re stuck with ripped pants or a busted backpack strap. Curious if anyone else keeps oddball repair stuff like duct tape or safety pins?

Puzzle books and a deck of cards always end up in my kit. They’re neither necessary nor “standard,” but goodness, when the power’s out and everyone’s nerves are frazzled, a crossword or quick card game can lift spirits. OrbitJazz21, I think those little entertainment extras do
