What’s Your Most Overlooked Prep Item?
Every year I think I’ve got my bases covered, but something always slips through the cracks. For me, one of the most overlooked items has been extra prescription eyeglasses. I’ve got food, water, off-grid power, and first aid covered, but realized during a blackout last summer that losing or breaking my glasses would make everything a hundred times harder—gardening, reading, even basic repairs.
Curious what others have overlooked—what’s the item you didn’t think about until a situation forced you to? Is it something you now stock in multiples, or just keep better track of? I’m especially interested in those “not obvious until you need it” supplies, not the usual beans-and-bandaids.
I’d also love tips on how you remember to rotate or check your overlooked items so you don’t end up with expired, broken, or useless gear. (Probably wouldn’t have caught my own glasses problem if I hadn’t needed them to fix a leaky faucet in the dark!)
