Everyone likes to talk about water filters, fire starters, and knives, but I rarely see folks mention strong, natural cordage—specifically, sturdy plant-based twine or rope. I always keep a good bundle of jute, hemp, or even twisted nettle fiber in my kits. It’s useful for more than shelter or gear repair; I’ve used cordage for making splints, hanging food, or even rigging up herbal bundles for quick remedies.
