Curious what survival item folks tend to overlook in their kits. For me, heavy-duty sewing needles are a must—repairs go way beyond torn clothes. What’s the one thing you pack that most others seem to forget about?

Duct tape gets my vote—it fixes almost anything, and I’ve even used it for emergency bandages when I ran out of the real stuff. Folks talk about it a lot but then forget to actually toss a roll in their kit. It’s lightweight and there’s just so many uses. Anyone ever tried mending shoes with it?

Duct tape IS magic, but it sure doesn’t last forever on shoes, especially if it’s wet out—had to learn that the hard way during a muddy hike! I’d say another overlooked item is a deck of playing cards or a small puzzle book. In stressful situations, keeping your mind occupied can be just as important as patching up your boots. Ever tried using paracord laces in place of regular shoelaces? Those hold up much better for me.
