Looking to store water long-term but want to avoid using bleach or any chemical additives. Has anyone had real success with natural methods like boiling and sealing, or food-grade containers in cool dark storage? Open to any proven tips or overlooked pitfalls.

I started using glass jugs (the kind for brewing) that seal tight, boiled the water first, then filled them hot so the lids sucked down. Kept em in the basement away from light. Had no mold or funny taste even after a year. Only hassle is the weight and breakability. Anyone try using ceramic crocks? Wonder if that’d work as well for bigger batches.
