What’s Your Go-To Item for Unexpected Power Outages?

When the lights go out unexpectedly, my first grab is always a good-quality LED headlamp—hands-free is a lifesaver when hunting for gear or navigating the house. I keep extra batteries close, but I’ve also started keeping a solar-powered lantern charging by the window just in case. Curious what everyone else prioritizes in those first minutes of a blackout? Do you have a dedicated "power outage kit" or just keep essentials scattered? Looking for some new ideas to add to my setup.

First thing I reach for is my old wind-up radio/flashlight combo. It’s not the fanciest, but I never have to worry about batteries running dead. I keep it in a “blackout basket” under the kitchen counter, along with candles, matches, and one of those big jugs of water. Anyone else tried rechargeable lanterns that work off hand cranks? Worth the switch?

Candles are my first grab every time—old school, but reliable when batteries fail. Do any of you use those battery-powered puck lights as backup, or are they not bright enough?
