First aid kit is hard to argue with, that’s for sure. For me, though, the one thing I never go without is a solid, multi-purpose knife. It’s the most versatile tool I’ve ever used—cuts rope, preps food, handles fire-making, you name it. There’s something about having a reliable blade that just makes me feel ready for nearly any situation. My old carbon steel model has even helped with first aid in a pinch, so I guess it covers a bit of what you mentioned too, Linda.
